"If you are not on the Swiss Train when it leaves the Station then it is all over."
Sean Kelly

My name is David Sumpton and i live in Bideford, North Devon, United Kingdom.

I am certified by CompTIA with the IT Technician designation which is recognized by the IT Industry as the benchmark to achieve when it comes to identifying and fixing hardware or software failures. Many companies, including Microsoft, Ricoh, Lenovo and Cisco, recommend or require CompTIA certifications.

Call me to discuss the arrangement of a maintenance contract or if you need some private help with your system. My rates are very reasonable and below the industry norm since i do not have a traditional brick and mortar shop to support.

I have used every Microsoft Operating System from DOS, whose technology is still in use today, to currently used systems. Since 1995 i have used computers and this has given me a vast amount of technical expertise to draw on when it comes to the handling of hardware and software related errors.

Troubleshooting today’s systems can be quite difficult and implementing a fix can be risky to your data so please have your data backed up before you call me. I will try to get your data off your system, if you wish, but i cannot guarantee anything with a system that is acting up or has failed.

There are many free Software Backup Utilities available on the net to choose from. If you use Microsoft XP there is a built in Backup Utility that you can install from your Disk.

To reduce fee’s when you call a Technician – not just me – i suggest you have all documentation regarding your hardware and software at hand. This means any license numbers for your operating system or Hardware documentation relevant to your system that will assist me.

In the event that you cannot find your license or i cannot retrieve your number off of your system i can install a free operating system such as Linux for you. You may even find that this suits you even more as there is no software to buy as it is free. Linux has had a reputation of being too hard to use for many years but this is simply not true anymore.

You do not need to install Linux on your system as Linux distributes CD’s which let you try the operating system without changing anything on your computer since it runs in your computers memory, initially. Many features of Linux now resemble Microsoft’s software in terms of the GUI, Graphic User Interface. You are no longer required to use the complicated, and often feared, command line unless you want to. So give it a try!

My last install of Linux Mint took care of everything right out of the box. The installation handled email server configuration so you could access your email as soon as the system was running. When was the last time Windows did that for you?
